Slinger High School has decided that all 2017 spring final exams have been cancelled. Instead of exams on the final week of school, there will be an all-day pep rally on June 7th and an additional school dance on the night June 8th as a jump into summer. Rather than a half-day of school, the community of Slinger has decided that their students need a well-deserved break from the constant testing.

It has definitely been a grueling school year, so this cancellation of final exams will definitely be good news to the majority of the student body. "I cannot thank Slinger High School enough," comments a freshman attending the high school. "My first semester exams were very tough, and I wasted a lot of my time studying for them. Now I can spend more time focusing on my friends and sports for the rest of the school year!"

Some do not agree with this decision to replace exams with another pep rally and school dance. "Final exams are necessary to ensure that students are benefitting from their classes," argues a Slinger High School teacher. "This cancellation is absurd and completely uncalled for. Slinger needs to keep their final exams in order to remain one of the top high schools in the state."

Happy April Fools!!!

The pre-summer pep rally will consist of the usual band music, food competitions, class races, and school spirit. The dance will be less formal than the other and hosted on the practice soccer fields, if the weather permits. The high school is hoping to hire a live band instead of a DJ for the occasion, and the dance's court will consist of the top academic achievers of the senior class. The theme has not yet been determined, but the dance's advisors are planning to send a Google form out to all Slinger High School students after the 2017 Prom to vote on this summer dance theme. Options include: Disney, Western, Circus, Patriotic, and the Roaring 20's. "This additional dance will be an amazing last hoorah!" says one of Slinger's seniors. "I have always loved high school dances, so I will make this final opportunity as fun as possible!"

APRIL FOOLS!! Exams will proceed as usual.
