There have been many new teacher additions to Slinger High School. Some are previous teachers teaching a new subject on their own, while others are new teachers teaching in the current departments. One of those new teachers is Mr. Menghe.
Mr. Menghe is the newest add-on to the science department. He teaches Natural Science 9 and is involved with the Science Olympiad. He has coached JV golf and is now volunteering to coach basketball this year. Before Mr. Menghe started working as a teacher here in Slinger, he previously worked at a research lab at Madison in biopharmaceuticals. Due to his wife’s job, he moved to Milwaukee, and then to Slinger where he is now. When he moved to Slinger, he had thought about going back to school to earn a teaching degree. During the time Mr. Menghe was earning that degree, he came across someone who knew a science teacher, Mr. Gundrum, here at Slinger High School. He thought Slinger was cool and then proceeded to make his way towards a career at Slinger High School. Mr. Menghe student taught at Riverside and with Mr. Gundrum here.
Outside of Slinger High School Mr. Menghe is married to his wife Kelly and they have two pets, a dog named Clove and a cat named Monster. Mr. Menghe’s hobbies are golf, basketball, and doing remodelling projects in his house. He is currently learning to play guitar. Mr. Menghe is already enjoying his first year here so far, and hopes that it will continue. The most fascinating thing that he has done is that he proposed to his wife on top of the Temple of Jaguar at a Mayan ruin site in Tikal, Guatemala. Tikal is the home to one of the largest archeological sites and urban centers of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. He says that proposing to his wife here was both risky and enjoyable.
