On April 25th and 26th, Slinger SkillsUSA headed to Madison, WI to compete in the state competition. Upon arrival, students were greeted with an opening ceremony, and were briefed to the specifics of the contest. The following day was the meat of the competition. Judges conducted interviews with all competitors, and reviewed all of their resumes. Many of the contests lasted several hours, and were rather intense. However, much to the disappointment of many, Construction was cancelled, due to safety concerns over standing water in the parking lot.
Six Slinger students finished with gold medals, and will be going to Louisville, KY from June 19th to the 24th for the national competition. Nationals will host a total of over 7,000 competitors, among them six Slinger students: Katie Meyer (Screenprinting and Technology), Noah Schilling (Photography), Rachel Hau, Hunter Milner, Matt Shea (Welding Fabrication Team), and Alyssa Koepke (State Trading Pin Design). Good luck to these national qualifiers!
