Last Friday, the 27th, a group of students from the Spanish Club went down to Milwaukee and learned more about Día de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead.” The students met with a former art teacher of the Bruce Guadalupe school system who took them around a small gallery and explained the significance of Day of the Dead. Students were given the opportunity to use Spanish to explain what they saw and had the chance to ask questions. It was stressed that Day of the Dead should be about celebrating the lives of lost ones, but there’s also room to mourn. The students then headed down to Café Sol where they enjoyed a buffet-style dinner in a room filled with their laughter. (Also, Slinger High School might get an opportunity to showcase some work in the gallery next year! How exciting!)
