With Spring Break concluded, this year’s seniors are accepting admission to colleges. This year, the Nite Crier sent out a google form to get the senior’s opinions on what made them choose their specific colleges. Here are some recurring themes:
1) College-specific majors:
“I want to go into a pre-veterinary path and most of the public universities didn’t offer this,” (Mariah Flynn, Cardinal Stritch University)
2) Scholarships!
“They offered me the largest scholarship out of all the colleges I applied to,” (Jillian Zielinski, St. Norbert College)
3) Great programs for specific majors:
“It is my dream to major in interior and architectural design, and MIAD has an amazing program for my major! They also have an amazing student body, who are always super kind and outgoing!” (Meghan Mack, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design)
4) Close to home:
“It’s a great pediatric nursing school close to home,” (Madison Bruger, Concordia)
“I chose this because it is an amazing school for teaching and that is my intended major and it’s not too far from home,” (Jessica Guerndt, UW-Oshkosh)
5) Great campus:
“I love the campus,” (Katie Breuer, UW-Oshkosh)
“UW Eau Claire has a great nursing programs and many opportunities for jobs in the medical field. I’m going into nursing to become a prenatal nurse. It is also one of the most beautiful campuses in Wisconsin,” (Carlene Hermann, UW-Eau Claire)
Overall, it seems like this year’s seniors considered a lot of options when choosing their college. They looked for colleges not only with their majors, but with great programs for them! They seem to value being close to home, while still being able to live away from home on a beautiful campus.
