On September 18th, Donald Trump addressed the threat of North Korea among a couple other things at the United Nations Assembly. He explains how North Korea has become quite reckless and cruel to its citizens along with the world as a whole. Trump refers to Kim Jung-un as “rocket man” in light of the many threats he has made towards the US. He also includes that the United States is willing to wipe out North Korea if it comes to it and that other countries such as China and Russia have decided they must do more than what they are already doing to stop North Korea from causing damage. Trump says they must “isolate the Kim regime until it ceases its hostile behavior.”
Additionally, Trump spoke on Iran using its profits to hurt their own innocent people and that they have little to no power to stop it. The Iranian people are not being given anything by their government and expected to survive on their own without their earned money. Trump said, “Will they continue down the path of poverty, bloodshed, and terror, or will the Iranian people return to the nation's proud roots as a center of civilization, culture, and wealth, where their people can be happy and prosperous once again?”.
Overall, the speech shows Trump’s thoughts on some major problems in the world today and shows his ideas for solutions. He asks for help and support from other countries in fixing these issues and improving them. After speaking of Iran, he does include a part on terrorism in the Middle East along with migration and immigration, which is something very real and relevant at this time. The whole goal of the assembly is to bring the world together in a time of crisis to overcome issues.
