Black Panther is the continued story of T’Challa aka the Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) who is now King of Wakanda after his dad was killed during Captain America: Civil War (2016). While that’s going on, Ulysses Klaue (played by Andy Serkis) thief of rare metals, steals a Wakandan artifact from a museum and plans to sell it to someone in South Korea. So T’Challa, the captain of the Wakandan army Okoye (played by Danai Gurira), and Nakia (played by Lupita Nyong’o) T’Challa’s girlfriend go to South Korea to stop Klaue. During the mission in South Korea, T’Challa runs into Special Agent Everett K. Ross (played by Martin Freedom) who was there to buy the artifact, but their cover is blown and a chase ensues. Klaue is captured, but escapes with the help of Erik Killmonger (played by Michael B. Jordan) an American whose father was part of the Wakanda royal family, but died when Erik was young. Erik then comes home to Wakanda and challenges T’Challa for the throne planning to give Wakandan technology to all oppressed Africans across the world and wage war on the world. T’Challa doesn’t want Wakanda to be dragged into a war and have their technology fall into the wrong hands. So it’s up to T’Challa to stop Erik and stop a world war.
Black Panther is a slick new Marvel movie that brings a big new world to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The acting is tremendous especially Chadwick Boseman who shows T’Challa’s uncertainty of being king and having to deal with the political issues of Wakanda. Also Michael B. Jordan is great as Erik, who has been killing people his whole life waiting to get the chance to become the king of Wakanda. The characters are fantastic and have interesting personalities that the audience can get behind. The action is amazing with the cool technology of Wakandan to the Black Panther suit itself that makes for some intense and thrilling action scenes. The world of Wakanda is interesting to look at and how it was created along with the different tribes that live in Wakanda. A nitpick of the film is that some of the CGI (Computer Generated Images) doesn’t look that good. Black Panther gets 9.5/10 stars.
