The Magnificent Seven is a remake of the old 1960 western film of the same name. The story is that bounty hunter, Chisholm, (played by Denzel Washington) who has been hired by Emma Cullen (played by Haley Bennett). She's hiring guys to help fight and take back her town of Rose Creek, from the greedy Bartholomew Bogue (played by Peter Sarsgaard), who has taken over the land to mine it. So Chisolm goes recruiting gun man, and finds Josh Faraday, (played by Chris Pratt) an alcoholic gunman, Vasquez (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) a Mexican outlaw, Jack Horne (played by Vincent D’Onofrio) a tracker, Red Harvest (played by Martin Sensmeier) a Native American, Goodnight Robicheaux (played by Ethan Hawke) a former confederate soldier, and Billy Rocks (played by Byung-Hun Lee) a Chinese gunman.
The Magnificent Seven is a great western film with great chemistry between the characters and interesting gunfights. The only true flaw of the movie is not giving more backstory to certain characters like Jack Horne and Vasquez, which has been done by numerous western films for the past decade. Other than that, The Magnificent Seven has one of the most intense gun battle scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. The Magnificent Seven gets four out of five stars.
