Murder on the Orient Express is the 2nd film adoption of the Agatha Christie novel of the same name. The story is about Inspector Poirot (played by Kenneth Branagh) who boards the Orient Express with other passengers: Miss Debenham (played by Daisy Ridley) a governess, Dr. Arbuthnot (played by Leslie Odom Jr.),Pilar Estravados (played by Penelope Cruz) a servant of God, MacQueen (played by Josh Gad) an accountant for Mr. Ratchett (played by Johnny Depp) an art dealer with multiple enemies, Princess Dragomiroff (played by Judi Dench) and her servant Hildegarde Schmidt (played by Olivia Coleman), and Caroline Hubbard (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) a widow looking for a husband. The next night, one of the passengers is murdered and it’s up to Poirot to find the killer.

Murder on the Orient Express is a gripping mystery that will keep you guessing till the end. The acting is great, especially Kenneth Branagh as Poirot who acts like a french Sherlock Holmes. The classy setting looks fantastic and gives the film an elegant style. The mystery is interesting with everyone seemingly innocent up until all their connections are revealed. The weakness of the film is that some of the characters aren’t fully developed such as Pilar Estravados. Murder on the Orient Express gets 9.5/10.
