I, Tonya is the life story of competitive figure skater Tonya Harding (played by Margot Robbie) who started at 4 years old with the support of her abusive mother (played by Allison Janney) who bust her butt to pay for Tonya’s skating and wants Tonya to push herself to be the best. After her dad leaves, Tonya turns bitter and drops out of school to focus on her training, which is when she meets Jeff (played by Sebastian Stan) a High School graduate that doesn’t know what to do with his life. As Tonya and Jeff contunie to date, Tonya keeps getting abused by Jeff, but she’s use to that so she moves in with him and leaves her mother’s house. Tonya continues to skate, but keeps getting low scores due to the skating judges not just judging on the skating. So Tonya and Jeff get married and their lives are happy together. Tonya then makes it to the 1992 Winter Olympics competition by being the first female figure skater to do the triple axel twice, which no lady figure skater has done before. After this, Tonya and Jeff separate causing Jeff to go crazy and Tonya to put a restraining order on him. Then Tonya begins to love Jeff again, which cause Tonya to not be able to land her jumps and puts her in fourth for the competition. Tonya then quits figure skating and becomes a waitress. That is until Tonya’s former trainer Diana Rawlinson (played by Julianne Nicholas) comes to Tonya to tell her to train for the 1994 Olympics. While training, Tonya gets a death threat, which leads to Jeff thinking that he can do the same to Nancy Kerrigan (played by Caitlin Carver). So Jeff and his friend Shawn (played by Paul Walter Hauser) come up with a plan to send letters to Nancy, but the plan goes all wrong when news hits that someone broke Nancy’s knee.

I,Tonya is a great bio-pick that shows the personal reactions and truths behind the Nancy Kerrigan incident. The acting is tremendous and everybody makes these real life people very relatable. The skating scenes are amazing and shows how spectacular Tonya was at skating. The story is terrific in that it is about Tonya’s life story and not just the Nancy Kerrigan incident. Also it shows how dumb Jeff and Shawn were in their plan and how they total screwed up their lives and Tonya’s. I, Tonya gets 10/10 stars.
