“Money Monster” is about Lee Gates (played by George Clooney), a host of a TV show called Money Monster, which focuses on the stock market and which stocks are the best to invest in. That’s when Kyle Budwell (played by Jack O’Connell), a blue collar worker sneaks onto the set of Money Monster and hijacks the show at gunpoint to find out why one stock in particular that Kyle invested all his money in failed. This leaves Lee and his producer Patty (played by Julia Roberts) to get answers and stay alive.

“Money Monster” has a very interesting plot, but loses focus by trying too hard to get its message across that Wall Street is corrupted. The acting itself is good, but the characters are very cliché and so one dimensional that renders the acting to a waste of a good performance. In the end, “Money Monster” is a film that had potential to be smart and compelling, but is wasted on trying to get a message across that was old even in the 90s.
