The LEGO Batman Movie is the spinoff from the LEGO Movie (2014) also starring Batman. The story behind LEGO Batman is that Batman/Bruce Wayne (voiced by Will Arnett), when facing the Joker (played by Zach Galifianakis), tells him that they don’t have a relationship. This leads the Joker to come up with the plan to turn himself in to prove that Batman does need the Joker and that they do have a relationship. This seem suspicious to Batman and the new commissioner Barbara Gordon (voiced by Rosario Dawson) who wants to team up with Batman to figure out the Joker’s plan, but Batman refuses because he works alone. Also while at a party for the new commissioner, Bruce unknowingly adopts orphan Dick Grayson (voiced by Michael Cera) while checking out the new commissioner. This leads Alfred (voiced by Ralph Fiennes) to tell Bruce to take responsibility for his actions and take care of Dick. So Bruce, as Batman, takes uses Dick to grab the Phantom Zone projector from The Fortress of Solitude – aka Superman’s home – so that he could send the Joker to a high secure Prison from another dimension. Once the Joker gets into the Phantom Zone, he has his partner in crime Harley Quinn (voiced by Jenny Slate) bust open the Phantom Zone and all the criminals that were imprisoned in there. So it’s up to Batman, Dick, Alfred, and Barbara Gordon to stop the Joker and save Gotham.

The LEGO Batman Movie is hands down one of the best comedies of all time. From the very first seconds, they’re launching joke after joke that make fun of both the Dark Knight (2008) and movies in general. The movie doesn’t leave a stone unturned and makes fun of everything about Batman from his embarrassing villains to his ridiculous first appearances on the small and big screen. Not only is The LEGO Batman Movie funny, but it’s also very emotional. The film touches on Batman being alone and not letting anyone in, because of his fear of losing the people he loves again. It shows Batman as being egotistical and cocky, but it shows what he’s like when he’s not fighting crime and how he doesn’t have anyone to truly open up his feelings to. The only thing I would say that is weak about this film is that the story has been seen from other Batman films like the Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises. The LEGO Batman Movie gets 9.5/10 stars.
