Power Rangers is the movie adaptation of the TV show of the same name. Power Rangers is about five teens; Jason/Red Ranger (played by Dacre Montgomery) the star QB of the football team who was arrested for pulling a prank, Kimberly/Pink Ranger (played by Naomi Scott) the leader of the cheer squad, Billy/Blue Ranger (played by RJ Cyler) a socially awkward nerd who’s dad died before he could discover an unknown item at the local gold mine, Zack/Black Ranger (played by Ludi Lin) a teen who spends most his time taking care of his sick mom, and Trini/Yellow Ranger (played by Becky G) who’s a loner and unknown to many. One night, they all meet up at the local gold mine where they discover power coins, which are all different colors. The next morning the teens feel stronger and can do extraordinary things that they couldn’t before. Later the same day, the teens go back to the spot that they found the crystal and find a hidden entrance underground that leads to a crashed spaceship. On the spaceship, the teens meet Alpha 5 (voiced by Bill Hader) and Zordon (played by Bryan Cranston) a former red ranger that protected the power coins from Rita (played by Elizabeth Bank), a former ranger that betrayed the others. With the emergence of the power coins,Rita returns with her mission to find the zeo crystal and destroy the world. So it’s up to the teens to become the Power Rangers and defeat Rita.

Power Rangers is a good adaptation of the show in certain aspects. The acting from all the actors is good and very emotional. The teens have great chemistry together and speak like real teens, which makes the film work for making the audience feel emotionally invested in the characters. Elizabeth Banks was pretty good as Rita, giving a performance with a mix of intimidation and humor. The weakness of Power Rangers is that the Power Rangers only show up near the end of the film and that some of the CGI (Computer Generated Images) look terrible. Power Rangers gets 7.5/10 stars.
