Kiss

Like the lovers

in that old photograph.

Intertwined

black and white

Closer than the braided knot

tied to the end of an anchor

as it sinks

down

down

down

To the bottom of the sea.

It is dark there.

A place where silence is deafening

and no light shines. But,

Dreary darkness does disperse

in the sudden

Onslaught

of brightness.

Murkiness did not always live here,

For the creek that babbled

through the Garden of Eden

used to be clearer

than the

Daylight

that now pierces the darkness.

A sword of luminescence

slicing opaque flesh

with soft lips.

A song in the silence,

and a word

among the unspoken.

She kissed him there,

among the sunset-stained leaves

that hung from branches above

and the darkness

was

No more.
