The Daddies come home for Christmas in Daddy’s Home 2.

Daddy’s Home 2 continues the story of step dad Brad (played by Will Ferrell) and dad Dusty who decide to have a Christmas together with their kids and their dads, Kurt (played by Mel Gibson) Dusty’s dad and Don (played by John Lithgow) Brad’s dad. Kurt sees how Dusty has become soft and decides to cause some tension between Brad and Dusty to prove that their relationship is weak. Through the Christmas week, secrets are revealed and lessons are learned about family and coming together for the Holidays.

Daddy’s Home 2 is better than the first one. The characters work great together and have terrific comic timing. The comedy is strong, but it doesn’t hit every time. The weakness of the film is that the subplots dealing with the moms is pointless and takes away from the main focus of the film. Daddy’s Home 2 gets 8/10 stars.
