The Night Sky Dies

I can’t see anything.

Where is the light?

Dots of light poke through

A shroud of darkness.

Twinkling in a sea of black ink

Like anything,

The light from the stars doesn’t last.

The lights soon sink,

Deep below the horizon,

Never to be seen again.

A great ball of light

Rises above the horizon,

Blanketing the land,

In a brilliant flash.

The sun is above the trees.

I still can’t see anything.

Where is the darkness?

The shine covers the Earth,

Blinding every living thing it touches.

No dark spots are seen

For the sky is forever lit.
