Winter

The frozen water scrapes along the bleak landscape,

Leaving scars across the once beautiful, lush Earth.

The ice freezes everything in its path,

Yielding to no one who crosses to meet it.

Snow creeps into the boots of innocent people,

Numbing their toes so they can’t walk.

The ice spills onto the roads all around,

Making it hard to drive anywhere.

Leaving you stranded in your homes,

Until spring arrives.

But there is beauty in winter as well.

For winter freezes the melting drops into crystals,

Sparkling on the tips of the dormant trees.

Winter gives you new ways to have fun.

Ice skating, skiing, and sleigh rides,

Slide through the soft slush,

Spraying sparkling snowflakes in their wake.

For the winter landscape warms your heart,

Sending beauty and joy,

Throughout the world.
