This past Thursday, October 27, the Slinger boys’ soccer team’s season came to a close with a well-fought loss against the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes. The Owls’ first game in the Wisconsin state tournament was against Southwest High School, a team from Green Bay. The Owls dominated possession throughout the game and led the scoreboard for the majority of the game. Slinger was able to win this first regional match 3-1, advancing to the regional final. On October 22, the Owls matched up against Homestead High School. With a goal from senior Colin Hoch, Slinger won the game 1-0, ending the Highlanders’ season earlier than expected and earning Slinger soccer a regional championship.

On Thursday, in the first round of sectionals, Slinger boys’ soccer played Whitefish Bay High School, one of the top-ranked teams in the state. The Blue Dukes dominated the game throughout the first half, but the Owls defense was able to hold strong, ending the first half at a 0-0 tie. However, in the second half, the Blue Dukes were able to hit the back of the net, ending Slinger’s season in a 3-0 loss.

Overall, Slinger boys’ soccer has had a great season. They finished third in the competitive Wisconsin Little Ten conference below Oconomowoc and Hartford, with a record of 3-2-1, scoring twelve goals and only allowing six. Their overall record was 8-5-5. Individually, last week, Colin Hoch was named Daily News Player of the Week. Congratulations to Slinger boys’ soccer on a successful season and a regional championship!
