Slinger wrestling named conference champions

On Saturday, January 14, Slinger varsity wrestling won the Campbellsport Dual Tournament, winning all of their duals and going 5-0. The following individual wrestlers earned a record of 5-0: Caleb Ziebell, Adam Beine, Hudson Mountjoy, and Cameron Tonsor-Heesen. Also, Slinger’s JV team travelled to South Milwaukee High School on January 14. Jack Haluzak, Tim Gehring, and Jacob Klinger won their brackets.

On Thursday, January 19, the Owls competed in a dual meet against Beaver Dam and won 46-18. Logan Stegemeyer and Bennett Connolly pinned their opponents. Other wrestlers who won their matches include: Caleb Ziebell, Chris Melius, Hudson Mountjoy, Jake Budnik, Adam Grudzinski, Adam Beine, and Caleb Kovacevich. After this strong victory, Slinger wrestling advanced to a conference record of 6-0.

On Saturday, January 21, Slinger varsity wrestling travelled to Fort Atkinson. The team placed 7th overall with first place finishes from Hudson Mountjoy and Adam Beine. On the same day, the JV Owls wrestled in Kewaskum. Hunter Acton, Jake Bernarde, Jacob Klinger, and Nate Rafko won their respective weight classes.

Most recently, on January 27, the Owls hosted a home dual meet against the West Bend East Suns. Slinger won 62-16, making them champions of the Wisconsin Little Ten conference. Pins came from Bennett Connolly, Casey Osterberg, Hudson Mountjoy, and Caleb Kovacevich. Other wins came from Gavin Skinner and Adam Beine.
